It’s official. We’re now in debt up to our eyeballs.
We spent three hours signing loan documents yesterday, and now are the proud owner of liens and promisary notes. Ahhhhh, the joy.
Construction will start right after the holiday next week, and we’ll be dialed in to open on Labor Day weekend. Just days before school starts, which is great for us as the only high school in Baker is a block away. Who wants to eat cafeteria food when you can have a hot slice of pizza instead?
It’s been nice having all of this time off to plan, to play, to bake and plant and clean and wander aimlessly. Whitey keeps saying he’s “retired”. I guess he has been living the lifestyle, though. He’ll play 36 holes of golf today in perfect, high-desert weather, then we’ll eat fish tacos on the porch for dinner, watching the sun go down and commenting on how nice the flowers are doing in the baskets I made. We’re old people, people! But not for long.
Once the remodeling starts, we’re in the thick of it. I doubt we’ll have time to stare at the petunias or hand-water the lawn to be sure that the edges are soaked. I can’t wait to be busy again….
