They arrived with appetites, and a mom. She witnessed their signatures on our iron-clad disclaimers that they signed. Good deal.
Football players. Great. One of whom is our contractor’s son (Grant, on the left). These boys were Hun-Gree.
They brought a small entourage with them, and everyone settled in for a 30-minute showdown.
Ready? Set? GO!
I love the comment by Grant at the end of this video…
“This is pretty awesome!”
Whitey and I both feared the tall, skinny guy on the far left. Look at his eyes… pure hunger.
We were wrong. He ended up bowing out first, with about half a pie left.
The other two guys kept at it. Bite. Chew. Swallow. Bite. Chew. Swallow. Sip water. Bite. Chew….
while our referees kept a close eye on the time-clock.
I saw the look in his eyes just before he stood up and excused himself. Can you see it?
He was done. Finished. Ridiculously full. Football player? Bah!
Grant came close, with only 1 slice left and a pile of olives in the final moments.
Later in the evening, during the busiest time of the night, we had a cyclist attempt the Challenge as well. We warned him that these three guys had failed earlier in the afternoon, to which he explained that he was a “cyclist, not a football player, and we burn more calories and can eat more.”
He ate 3 slices before giving up. 🙂
