To say it’s been hot the last couple of weeks is an understatement.
Too hot to sit outside, for shizzle.
I took this photo in my car after it had sat in the parking lot for about 10 minutes.
That’s just silly hot.
Our patio flowers are crunchy. I think that next year I’ll save my money and just put out silk ferns. The flowers never last through the summer.
Speaking of hot…
One of our kitchen guys burned himself pretty badly. At first we thought he was just whining, and then he showed us this:
That thing is going to be gnarly soon. And just before he starts football camp! Ouch.
We went through some employee turmoil recently. One of our kitchen guys has been dealing with some personal issues, and he quit without notice. Baker City is just too small of a town, he said, so he quit ten minutes before his evening shift to move back to California. It was completely unexpected, and we were left short-handed at the last minute. A few 12-hour days later, we were at our wits end about what to do. We stopped doing day time deliveries, crunched the schedule, and found a way to have a break in the middle of the day.
But things always have a way of figuring themselves out. We immediately had two applicants who looked promising, and so we hired one of them. He’s starting with delivery, and learning ovens as he goes.
Onward and upward in the crazy world that is the restaurant biz…
And to end on a high note, some nicer news.
