We wanted to make a crew pie, but couldn’t decide on the toppings.
Let’s do something ridiculous. Something stupid. Something that makes a person’s face wince with wonder when you tell them what’s on it.
We made a Reuben pie, only not really.
Thinly sliced, seared SPAM (yes, Spam, the most favorite “meat” in Hawaii) on top of a light thousand island dressing, covered in mozzarella, Swiss, yellow onions and sauerkraut. And of course, cooked to a nice char.
Crunchy crust, chewy and stringy cheese, tangy dressing and the pungent flavor of the kraut made for a strange, yet good pie. We even got our resident “I don’t like anything on that pizza” front gal to take a bite. She finished her slice.
What will we make tonight?
